Product Spotlight: The Gommage
What is a Gommage?
Gommage is product that exfoliates the face or body, leaving skin feeling silky soft. You apply the product to the skin, allow it to dry slightly while gentle enzymes digest dead skin cells on the surface, then rub it off -- taking dead skin cells with it.
How does it work?
Gommage combines chemical exfoliation through the use of enzymes with mechanical exfoliation through the action of rubbing. Enzymes digest the dead skin cells sitting on the surface. Once the paste is dried, it is rubbed off, taking dead skin cells with it.
Can gommage be used on all skin types?
While gommage is fairly gentle form of exfoliation, it is not recommended for the following:
- Don't use gommage if you have older, thinning facial skin.
- Don't use gommage together with other exfoliants like body scrubs or peels.
- Don't use gommage if you have sensitive skin, broken capillaries or pimples.
The Yonka Gommage is the perfect addition to a simple yet effective skin care regimen. It is superior to other gommages because it not only exfoliates but also tones, brightens and hydrates the skin. We recommend exfoliation 2-3 times a week with the gommage. You can also use it as a mask to help tone and brighten the complexion.
